All the team were in the fray. All six matches produced outright results. Also, margin of victories on the inagural day was the narrowest. Both previous edition finalists Argentina and The Netherlands struggled though in the end managed to garner full three points respectively against USA and India.

In all 6 matches produced 17 goals, 10 of then through penalty corners.

Though in the first match (India-Neth), there was an equal trade off between field and penlaty corner goals, 3 field goals and 2 penatly corner goals, most other matches were decided on penalty corner conversion. Both Korea´s goals against Japan, all three goals the match between Argentina and USA, the Australia´s lone goal against South Africa and the solitary goal of Spain against Germany were from the penalty conrers.

Very less cards were flahed — Just five in six matches. Only yellow card of the first day went to China´s defeder Zia Chou. No cards were issued in three matches.

Defending champions Argentina earned the maximum number of Penalty corners in a match – 10, but could convert just two. Australia and Korea got 7 each.

Opening ceremony of the world cup was briefest, lasted hardly 10 minutes. It was held after five matches have already been over.

Hardly was there any crowd, even the match involving the hosts did not see more a hundred heads.
