Finally, the good news is there. Indian Olympic Association and the FIH will jointly organize the World Cup in India.

FIH President Els van Breda Vriesman announced this in Hyderabad today a couple of hours before

Though technically the mega event was allotted to India, when the FIH and the IHF signed a memorundum last year, but doubts have risen because of so many other factors, including the unprofessional approach of the outgone IHF regime.

This is all the more good news because further doubts have been created due to the Sports Authority of India creating hurdles in implementing some provisions of the ‘Promoting Indian HOckey Project’, a joint proposal by the IOC and the FIH

Bob Davidzon, Director of the above mentioned initiave, have put up five items for immediate follow up by the ad-hoc committee.

The most significant one is ‘Hockey India’ which says the men and women federations should merge effectively and the unified federation should be named so

It is worthwhile to mention here that many countries including England, Australia, Germany have changed their federation name from traditional way to adfix Hockey with the country’s name.

Hockey lovers need to appreciate the FIH for the initiave, and finally, despite asking other countries to bid afresh for the world cup, it stood by the commitment at last.

The ad-hoc committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi, who is also the president of the Indian Olympic Committee deserves our kudo for preserving the global meet for us.
