Voted FIH Best Goalkeeper of the Year twice running (2015 and 2016) says a lot of Ireland’s David Harte.

Born on April 3, 1988, the 6 foot 5 inch tall Harte has been a key factor in Ireland’s surge into the top echelons of European and World hockey in the last five years.

Harte’s high moment came in the 2015 EuroHockey Championship when he was voted goalkeeper of the tournament.

The award was icing on the cake after Ireland beat hosts England 4-2 to win the bronze medal.

The result eventually positively impacted their chances of qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics – a first for Ireland after 108 years.

His twin brother Conor is Harte’s Ireland teammate while his sister Emer is also an Irish international.

Harte has plied his trade the world over. After turning out for Cork Harlequins and Prembroke Wanderers at home to SCHC and SV Kampong in the Netherlands.

He also represented Mumbai Magicians and Dabang Mumbai in the Hockey India League and UniKL in Malaysia.
