Playing for England and Great Britain, Maddie Hinch’s courage, energy and ability brought her a hat-trick of FIH Goalkeeper of the Year awards (2016, 2017 and 2018).
She took centre-stage in the final of the 2015 EuroHockey Championship final when she referred to her little notebook to help her counter Dutch strikers in the shootout.
Her notes helped. At least going by England’s victory in the shootout.
Hinch was to do an encore in the 2016 Rio Olympic final. Against the same formidable opponents to script an epoch-making gold medal for Great Britain.
Making her international debut in 2008. She has since collected 133 caps for England and Great Britain.
She plays for Stichtshe Cricket and Hockey Club in the Netherlands.
