Malaysia takes bronze, defeating Singapore 6-0

The hosts Malaysia defeated Singapore 6-0 to take the bronze in the Genting 4-Nation Cup in Johor Bahru.

Malaysia in fact took 4-0 lead within 25 minutes.

Saidin Mohd Jamil scored a brace, a goal apiece in the 11th and 20th minutes. Third goal for Malaysia came with a comibed effort of Adabi Md. Azammi and Tajuddin Firdaus. The former set up for the Firdaus to giving a finishing touch, much to the appreciation of the crowd. Only today some crowd turned up.

The fourth goal for Malaysia was a self-goal as the ball went in after Singpore’s Salim Haseef’s effort to stop it boomeranged, the ball slipped throu his stick into the cage. Harvinder Singh was the proud owner of the goal, officially speaking.

In the second half, Tajuddin sscored in the 45th mintes, two minutes later Jalil Marshan added another one, to round off the scoring part of the match.

Late in the proceedings, Singapore got a couple of penalty corners, but could not see of Adnan Abdul Hakim, the rival’s goalie.

In the last league match, Malaysia struggled to defeat Singapore 2-1.
