Born on 30th Dec. 1992, Punjab's Gurmail Singh made his senior debut at the 2012 Champions Trophy an then went on to don the nation's colours at the 2013 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup,  2013 Asia Cup and 2015 HWL R3 in Delhi. In his start up years, he was part of the Indian teams that participated in the Junior Asia Cup and Sultan of Johor Cup, both in 2012.

He hails from Gumlata, a village nearby Amritsar. He was a product of Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar. He plays for famous Punjab & Sind Bank in the domestic circuit. He also represented GNDU in the Inter-University Championships.   .
