The talented striker won many hearts in Ipoh with noticeable display. He was the fastest and gainful of Indian forwards. He scored a brace against New Zealand which helped India to hold them 3-3 at one point of time.
A talented forward, having the ability to tackle and re-tackle. He has been with the junior teams for almost three years.
Gurwinder made his senior debut in the Australia 4-Nations in 2008, and then went on to win the Silver at the 17th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia. He scored three goals in the Australia tour in 2008, where he played all the eight matches.
Gurwinder was retained as a Standbye for the Punjab Gold Cup in 2009
He was part of the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as well.
He makes a grand return to senior side hockey with induction into the 2011 Azlan Shah Cup squad. He is among the goals in his comeback tournament.
