The talented lad from Mithapur near Jalandhar is a product of Surjit hockey academy, Jalandhar, which produced the likes of Jugraj Singh etc.

MANDEEP SINGH was part of the Indian men's National hockey team that took part at the World Cup (2014, 2018); Asian Games (2018); Commmonwealth Games (2018); Asia Cup (2013); Hockey World League Tier 4 (Finals) (2014, 2017), Hockey World League Tier 3 (Round 3) (2013,2017) & Champions Trophy (2016 & 2018). He narrowly missed the Rio bus.

He has made his junior international debut in the 2012 Junior Asia Cup, and then in the same year played in the Sultan of Johor Cup, held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He was the babe of the team then. He made his senior debut at the Hockey World League Round 2 in Delhi 2013. Since then he did not look back, being in the all Core Groups, making it to the major tournaments that India played since 2013. He was a popular star in the hugely popular Hockey India League
