Indian Juniors, led by Diwakarram, made a big headway in their hunt for honours at the ongoing Australian Youth Olympics, with a remarkable victory over the hosts Australia.

India defeated Australia 2-1, goals coming from captain and forward Mandeep Antil scoring for India.

The hockey event started today

Mandeep Antil scored in the 11th minute through field effort, while his captain and penalty corner executioner Diwakar enlarged the lead 14 minutes later.

Australia attacked vigorously in the second half, getting a consolation goal four minutes from the hooter.

India will take on Great Britain tomorrow

Indian women’s team, reaching a few hours before the start of the tournament, went down to traditional foe Great Britain 3-1.
