After the Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) decided in March to allocate the 2008 WorldHockey Champions Trophy men to Netherlands, the Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) decided in its Board Meeting on Monday to entrust this event to the Hockey Club Rotterdam. The WorldHockey Champions Trophy men will take place from 21 until 29 June 2008.
‘We are looking forward to come back again in Rotterdam after the 2001 Champions Trophy and the 2005 Junior World Cup’, FIH President Els van Breda Vriesman stated. ‘We are sure that Rotterdam will be capable to host this important event. The KNHB has an impressive track record of hosting FIH World Level events and we are certain that the 2008 WorldHockey Champions Trophy will be a success.’
‘The venue of Rotterdam is an excellent one for a major event like this’, KNHB President Jan Albers said. ‘Our philosophy is to have international matches at different venues in Netherlands and this long term focus was an important aspect in the decision to go to Rotterdam.’
