We need to work on our passing’
CHENNAI: For once Chennai Cheetahs coach Jose Brasa acknowledged his team’s complete letdown against a better-endowed side. “We were completely outshone by them. They played much better than us in every department and played with a lot of spirit.
They also defended well. It was a match we played terribly and made a lot of mistakes,” he said.
Surprisingly, the team lost its intensity soon after seizing lead. “We started playing well and scored a beautiful goal. That was the best team goal I had seen in this tournament. At least seven players were involved in the goal. But thereafter, instead of getting of getting better, we went on the defensive,” he pointed out.
He pinpointed to passing as one of the grey spots that stood out. “We lost too many balls, and a lot of them in their half. We were loose with our passing and this is an area we need to focus on improving,” he specified.
As if not playing back-toback matches weren’t enough — they play Chandigarh Comets on Monday — they can’t afford to lose against the Comets, placed second on the table. “We had a good rest for a few days and hence we are not fatigued. We are still in hunt for the semifinals and if we play our remaining games well, we should make it,” he stated.
