Strykers bounce back
Pune Strykers kept Sher-E-Punjab at bay to emerge a 3-2 winner in their World Series Hockey match here on Tuesday.
The local side, which was thrashed by Delhi Wizards on Monday, suffered a jolt early in the match when Bikramjit Singh converted a penalty corner in the sixth minute to put the visitor ahead.
Strykers drew level six minutes later when Vikas Pillay made no mistake from the spot.
After a lull of 17 minutes, Gurpreet delighted the local fans by converting a penalty corner and came up with an encore two minutes later to put the Strykers 3-1 ahead.
Sher-E-Punjab reduced the margin in the 63rd minute thanks to Gagan Ajit Singh’s penalty conversion.
Sher-E-Punjab now has 25 points from 13 matches while the victor has 18 from the same number of games.
