28 Indian Players signed up for Hockey India League
28 Indian Players including the top stars from the current national team have signed on to play in the inaugural session of cash rich Hockey India League. Initial 28 contracts were signed between Hockey India and players in Pune on Thursday 7 June 2012.
In the list of 28 players who have signed on to play in the league includes Indian forward Shivendra Singh, Tushar Khandker ,Yuvraj Walmiki and others.
The First contract was signed by Shivendra Singh followed by second Tushar Khandker and third Yuvraj Walmiki. Ms. Elena Norman (CEO, Hockey India) signed on behalf of Hockey India.
Next list of the players being signed for Hockey India League will be announced shortly.
The league will help India unearth new talent as the Indian youngsters will be playing alongside top international stalwarts. With the inaugural season being played in six cities with 6 franchise based teams it will help to popularize our National Game in the country.
Hockey India League will be a multi-city franchise-based league and players acquired in an auction. Each team will have 24 players including 10 foreign and 14 Indians.
