K. Arumugam has been an ardent fan of hockey. He has been writing about hockey for over a decade now and has had one of his essays on Dhyan Chand featured in the XI standard English Text books. He is basically a scientist and hockey is his hobby. He has painstakingly compiled both hockey statistics and events. He has also shot major hockey tournaments like World Cups with his camera. Acknowledged as a chronicler and historian, he also compiles International Hockey Year Book series since 1995. He has also co-authored two other books – ‘Great Indian Olympians’ with noted writer Gulu Ezekiel and ‘Golden Boot’ with Olympic hockey gold medalist, M.K. Kaushik. Reviews of his books have appeared in The Hindu, The Hindustan Times, Statesman, Outlook, The Telegraph, Journal of International Society of Olympics Historians and others.
