HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have arrested Jammu & Kashmir Under-20 women’s hockey team coach Angat Singh for allegedly misbehaving with some players from Punjab, who landed here to participate in the ongoing National U-20 Women’s Hockey tournament.
According to police, Angat Singh along with the J&K team arrived in the city to participate in the tournament, which began on January 10. The J&K team was knocked out of tournament on Friday. Some hockey players from Punjab approached additional director-general (Training) Tejdeep Kaur Menon, who is one of the organisers of the event, on Sunday alleging that the J&K coach who traveled in the same train had ‘misbehaved’ with them between Patiala and Delhi during their journey to Hyderabad.
Police immediately tried to locate Angat Singh, but they discovered that he had already left the city without his team. They then tracked his cell phone and found that he was on a Delhi-bound train. Subsequently, with the help of the Government Railway Police, Angat Singh was picked up from the train. At the time of filing this report, the coach was being brought back to the city. Based on a complaint lodged by the Punjab players, the Chandanagar police have booked a case against Angat Singh.
