Pakistan needed a good show to shore up their own chances after a shaky victory over Egypt yesterday.

But Pakistan had to bow to the superior Germany rather tamely (1-6) in their second match today on day two of the Hero Junior World Cup.

Germany did not allow Pakistan to settle, scoring a field goal in the second minute itself. Christopher Ruhr scored first of his three goals, the other two coming in the 18th and 26th minutes.

In between, Lukas Windfeder converted a penalty corner in the tenth minute.

When Germany had taken 3-0 lead in the 18th min, there was ample time left for the former world champions to make up and make a match of it.

However, Arslan Qadir, who elbowed German captain Mathias Muller, got a red card, first in 10 matches played so far, and thus the team had to play with just 10 players in the remainder of the game.

Germany, who lost their match to Belgium, relished the situation and went on the strike three more goals, one by Ruhr and one apiece from Schllkopf and Niklas Bruns.

Pakistan’s goal came in the dying moments, 70+, off a penalty corner strike by Shakeel Butt.

Pakistan coach Anjum Saeed termed the decision of the umpire too harsh.
