New Delhi: Chief coach of Belgium Marc Lammers was a disappointed man on Saturday after his team lost their second match after being in a position of strength to win. The two close matches in the pool may not make a difference if the team can pull up its spirits for the quarterfinals knockout play and Belgium looks good to make a comeback.
Lammers said: “I am very disappointed with our second consecutive loss today. For our next match we have to give our best performance to stay in contention. We have to work on our defence as that proved to be the gray area today. This is a young team but not short of confidence, we just have to start our winning streak. In the last 5 years hockey has improved in the country.’’
“We are the youngest team here and I am sure Belgium will be a name to reckon with very soon in the world of Hockey,” he added,
Argentina Coach Carlos Retegui said: “It’s a happy moment for us to have defeated both Netherlands and Belgium. We hope to continue this winning streak in our next matches. The boys knew that this is an important match but they did not come under any pressure and kept their cool in the entire game.”
Speaking through an interpreter, he added that the Belgium coach in one of the best coaches in the world and said the team cannot be ruled out. “There were a lot of cards and we did change the tactics as we were playing with less men. But in the end what matters is a win and we won,’’ he added.
