New Delhi, 03 May 2015: The Preparatory Camp of the Indian Women Core Probable’s team is all set to commence at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on 4 May 2015 and will continue till 10 June 2015. The camp is for the preparation for the upcoming all important Hockey World League Semi-Final slated in Belgium from 20 June – 04 July 2015.

32 players will be part of the camp which will work towards enhancing the skills on the field to meet the challenge ahead. The Women team recently played at the Hawke’s Bay Cup where, while they had to settle for the 7th position, they have to their credit of some brilliant performances which showcased that they can give tough competition to any team on any given day. Their match against Australia during the tournament where both the teams played for a draw brought to the forefront how the Indian team gave the opponents a run for their money and on a couple of occasions during the match, the Indian team even had a chance to go one up. Also, the match against Japan where the Indian team trailing the game, made a brilliant comeback to win the match and claim the 7th position in the tournament.

Commenting on the Training Camp, Director High Performance, Hockey India Mr Roelant Oltmans said, “The team has showcased that they have the capability to win any match, just that they need to work on good ball possession, tackles and passes. The camp will aim to work on these areas and ensure that we finish the games in our favour. I am confident that they will take their game a notch up in the upcoming tournament.”
