MP Hockey blanks Hockey Himachal 15-0
Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 27 April 2015: With the finest strategies and field plans, the teams continued their winning run on the second day of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division today at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh.
The day started with interesting clashes between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Maharashtra where the former thumped the latter with a 12-0 on the scoreboard. The second match saw Hockey Odisha defeating Delhi Hockey 8-0 followed by another exciting clash where Hockey Haryana blanked Sports Authority of India 11-0. And in the last match of the day, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy trounced Hockey Himachal 15-0.
In the match between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Maharashtra it was the former which dominated and won the match 12-0. Anupa Barla for Railway Sports Promotion Board was seen into action in the very first minute as she scored through a brilliant field goal. Keeping the momentum of attacks going, Railway Sports Promotion Board in the 15th minute had another shot at the goal and this time it was Navjot Kaur who did no mistake in finding the nets and taking her team’s score to 2-0. Before the end of first half the team added two more goals in the 29th and 30th minute and half time scores read 4-0 in favor of Railway Sports Promotion Board. Second half saw Railway Sports Promotion Board increasing the momentum of attack as they convincingly added seven more goals before the end of game. 40th minute and the team added their 6th goal as Manmeet Kaur capitalized on a penalty corner. The next minute, Railway Sports Promotion Board had another shot at the penalty corner and this time Navjot Kaur took it upon herself to do the needful for the team. Another two quick field goals were scored in the 43rd and 46th minute from the sticks of Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra and taking the score to 9-0. Railway Sports Promotion Board was successful in scoring three more goals before the game was declared 12-0 in their favor.
In another match between Hockey Odisha and Delhi Hockey, the former won the match 8-0 leaving the opponents stunned. Both the teams started the game with good attack, looking at the initial goal. Finally in the 12th minute Hockey Odisha managed to break the shackles of the opponents to register the first goal of the match. The team doubled the account in the 15th minute as Majhi Nilprojita scored through a field effort. Four minutes later the team got a penalty corner in their name and Jira Ekka ensured that she hit past the goalkeeper and took the score to 3-0. Right before the end of first half, Hockey Odisha got another go at the penalty corner and Ambika Toppo stood tall to convert and the first half scores read 4-0. Not wasting any time in the second half, 32nd minute and goal No. 5 was score by Captain Biragini Ekka, helping her team to a very strong position. Hockey Odisha almost on the verge of winning the game scored three more goals in the 42nd, 46th and 53rd minute to register an 8-0 win over Delhi Hockey.
Hockey Haryana showcasing great hockey skills convincingly beat Sports Authority of India 11-0. It was Jyoti Gupta’s brilliant performance of five individual goals which ensured Hockey Haryana of a huge win. Just two minutes into the game Devika Sen started the proceedings through her field goal. This was followed by Jyoti Gupta’s two consecutive field goals in the 5th and 18th minute which took the score to 3-0 in her team’s favor. Just two minutes left for the first half to end when Jyoti added the fourth goal for Hockey Haryana, ensuring that Hockey Haryana was placed in a very strong position. Right into the second half Hockey Haryana scored three consecutive goals in the 32nd, 36th and 38th minute coming from the sticks of Jyoti Gupta, Joydeep Kaur and Kiran respectively. Leading the game 7-0, Hockey Haryana scored four more goals before registering the win at 11-0.
The last match of the day witnessed a remarkable win for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy over Hockey Himachal with a huge margin of 15-0. The entire match was dominated by Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy who scored eleven goals in the first half and did not allow the opponents to open their score card. In support of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy Shivani Singh scored four goals in the 4th, 13th, 27th and 30th minute. While Priyanka Wankhede scored a brace in the 5th and 29th minute. Very successful in breaching the defence of Hockey Himachal, Reena Khokhar added three more goals to the team’s tally in the 8th, 9th and 46th minute. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy’s Shyma Tidgam successfully converted a penalty corner in the 10th minute with the support of Ramngaihuuali R who scored three more goals for her team in the 16th, 21st and 56th minute. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy did not stop here and added two more goals to finish with a tally of 15 goals and winning the match over Hockey Himachal 15-0.

Sr Women’s Champ’ship: Jharkhand outclass Hockey UP 7-2
Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 30 April 2015: In a bid to move a step closer to the knock-out stage of the ongoing 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division, the teams were seen taking on their respective opponents and secured a win in their kitty.
The first clash of the day between Hockey Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh Hockey concluded in favour of Hockey Jhrakhand who drubbed Uttar Pradesh Hockey 7-2. This was followed by an exciting clash between Hockey Karnataka and Assam Hockey where the former pulled down the latter with a 3-1 win. The third match proved to be fruitful for Hockey Punjab as they sealed a fine win against The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd 3-1. Hockey Bhopal gave a wonderful ending to the day by winning the match 5-0 over Hockey Kerala.
Hockey Jharkhand in their match against Uttar Pradesh Hockey beat the opponents 7-2 and registering a convincing win. Intentions were made clear by Hockey Jharkhand from the very first minute as they attacked and looked at capitalizing. 5th minute and the team through Birsi Mundu brilliant field goal opened the team’s account. Not wasting time, Hockey Jharkhand added the second goal to the score card and this time it was Sabnam Lakra to do the needful for the team. Trailing the game by 0-2 Uttar Pradesh looking at bouncing back scored their first goal in the 25thminute when the penalty corner was converted by Reena Devi. With half time scores at 2-1 in favor of Hockey Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh Hockey had a job at hand. Second half though did not go in favor of Uttar Pradesh Hockey as Hockey Jharkhand went on to score back to back goals leaving them frustrated. 34th, 40th, 43rd and 49th minute marked four consecutive goals by Hockey Jharkhand as they took the lead to 6-1. With a big goal difference, Uttar Pradesh Hockey scored its second goal in the 53rd minute as Reena Devi yet again capitalized on the penalty corner opportunity. 59th minute Hockey Jharkhand scored its seventh goal and won the match 7-2.
The match between Hockey Karnataka and Assam Hockey was almost a one sided match as Hockey Karnataka were leading the game 3-0 before Assam Hockey finally scoring their sole goal in the 41st minute. Maintaining the attack in the entire first half Hockey Karnataka scored two quick goals in the 16th and 18th minute coming from the sticks of Komala B M and Nischitha M J. leading the game by 2-0 a half time, the second half saw similar strategy by Hockey Karnataka as they continued their attack on the opponents and looking at scoring opportunities. 37thminute marked the team’s third goal as Rashmi P P scored through a brilliant field goal. Assam Hockey managed to finally break the shackled of Hockey Karnataka to score their only goal in the 41st minute coming from the field effort of Moully Yadav. Hockey Karnataka went on to win the match 3-1.
The third clash of the day between Hockey Punjab and The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd was an interesting battle which ended in favour of Hockey Punjab who defeated The Mumbai Hockey Association 3-1. The game was intense from the initial minutes as both the teams were eyeing to strike the first goal of the match. The struggle continued with players showcasing their stick skills and it was in the 20th minute that Hockey Punjab started the proceedings with a field goal coming from Hardeep Kaur. The Mumbai Hockey Association geared up to retaliate and strived hard to enter into the opponents’ defense but could not beat the tactics of Hockey Punjab who were leading with 1-0 by the end of the first half. It was in the second half that The Mumbai Hockey Association grabbed a chance to open their account and come in form with a field goal in the 38th minute coming from Navneet Kaur. Hereon, a tough clash was witnessed between both the teams who tried to bag the next goal and get better of each other. Punjab Hockey again took the lead in the 56th minute when Navpreet Kaur struck an excellent field goal. Punjab Hockey without giving the opponents any further prospects to score announced their win with score 3-1 in the 60th minute when Pooja Rani from the leading team earned a crucial penalty stroke in the 60th minute of the game.
In a one sided match Hockey Bhopal defeated Kerala Hockey comfortably with a score of 5-0. Hockey Bhopal dominated the entire match and did not allow Kerala Hockey to open their score card throughout the match. Jameela Bano for Hockey Bhopal was seen into action from the early eighth minute of the game as she scored a brilliant field goal. Rashmi Singh not wasting much time struck the second goal for Hockey Bhopal in the 13th minute to double the lead 2-0. Keeping the momentum going, Captain Ranjita Sanasam and Shivani Bisht dexterously scored the third and fourth goal for their side in the 33rdand 40th minute respectively. Trailing by 4 goals, Kerala Hockey made all effort to sneak into the goal box but could not beat the opponent’s dominance. Hockey Bhopal’s Binita Kindo scored the fifth goal for her team in the 56th minute and declared a comfortable win 5-0 over Kerala Hockey.

Jharkhand, Punjab enter semis
Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 1 May 2015: Entering the semi-finals stage of the 5th Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A), the teams displayed the finest hockey skills on the grounds of Saifai, Uttar Pradesh today.
In the semi-final clash scheduled for tomorrow, Railway Sports Promotion Board will play against Hockey Punjab in Semi-Final 1 whereas, and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy will lock horns with Hockey Jharkhand in Semi- Final 2.
The day witnessed four interesting clashes where Hockey Jharkhand beat Assam Hockey 10-1 to reach the semi- finals of the tournament. The second match of the day. Hockey Karnataka held Uttar Pradesh Hockey at a 1-1 draw. In the third match of the day, Hockey Punjab enters the semi-finals by defeating Hockey Kerala 10-2. The day concluded with a win in favour of The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd who drubs Hockey Bhopal by 6-2.
In a one sided match between Hockey Jharkhand and Assam Hockey, it was the former who thumped the latter with a huge goal margin of 10-1. Hockey Jharkhand opened their account in the 8th minute of the game when Birsi Mundu scored a brilliant field goal and gave an early lead to her team. After three minutes, Basanti Kachhap utilized the penalty corner and extended the lead when he smashed the ball in the goal-box to take the score-line to 2-0. Hockey Jharkhand was seen in full action as they continued to assert pressure to Assam Hockey and restricted them to convert scoring opportunities. By successfully converting a penalty stroke Anima Minz of Hockey Jharkhand managed to score the third goal for her team in the 12th minute which was closely followed by Etwari Mundu who struck a 13th minute goal through a penalty corner. Hockey Jharkhand advanced their lead to 6-0 when two more goals were added by Nisha Rani Aind and Poonam Madhuri in the 24th and 27thminute respectively. With the end of the first half, Hockey Jharkhand was leading against Assam Hockey who failed to open their score card and the score board read 6-0. Continuing the same spirit in second half, Hockey Jharkhand played with full force Sabnam Lakra and Basanti Kachhap contributed two goals in the 37th and 44th minute respectively to take the score-line to 8-0. Hockey Jharkhand scored two back to back goals by the efforts of Birsi Mundu and Anima Minz in the 50th and 52nd minute respectively which escalated their lead to 10-0. However in 55th minute, Assam hockey finally found the nets when Moully Yadav managed to earn a goal for her team and changed the score board reading by 10-1 but it was too late as Hockey Jharkhand stood successful in beating Assam Hockey 10-1.
Another intense match of Pool C was witnessed between Hockey Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh Hockey who held each other at a 1-1 draw. The match saw tremendous action coming in from both the sides.The teams were not wanting to give an early lead to each other and the first half ended on a dry run for both the teams. The second half started with the same energy and it was Ranjitha A K who broke the shackles in the 48th minute taking an early lead 1-0. Very confident Uttar Pradesh Hockey stood successful and scored a brilliant equalizer in the 57th minute through Reena Devi which concluded the match with a 1-1 draw.
In a Pool D match dominated by Hockey Punjab, Hockey Punjab trounced Kerala Hockey 10-2. . Both the teams were seen striving to score in the first few minutes of the game. However, it was Navpreet Kaur from Hockey Punjab who initiated the chain of goals in the early third minute of the game. Within just five minutes of the first goal, Gurjit Kaur scored the second goal in the eighth minute for Hockey Punjab and doubled the lead to 2-0. Continuing to assert pressure on Kerala Hockey, it was Pooja Rani who very efficiently converted a penalty stroke in the 17thminute of the game. The game seem to be in favour of Hockey Punjab as Gurjit Kaur struck two consecutive field goals in the 20th and 25th minute of the game taking the lead to 5-0. Hockey Punjab confirmed a tough game for the opponents by striking another field goal coming from Ramandeep Kaur in the 27th minute of the game followed by excellent penalty corner conversion by Gurjit Kaur in the 28th minute. Just before going to the half time, Kerala Hockey finally managed to open its score card through Anjali Abraham who struck the opening goal for her team through a penalty stroke in the 29th minute of the game and took the scores to 1-7. Within a minute into the second half, it was Navpreet Kaur from Hockey Punjab who added the eighth goal to his team in the 36th minute through a penalty corner conversion. Kerala Hockey bounced back through Vismaya A who scored a 47th minute field goal but Hockey Punjab stood tall to retaliate and the team scored two goals coming from Sukhjit Kaur and Meenakshi in the 56thand 58th minute respectively. With this, the game concluded in favour of Hockey Punjab who defeated Kerala Hockey 10-2.
In the Pool D match, The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. outplayed Hockey Bhopal by 6-2 in a one-sided clash. Mumbai drew the first blood when they earned a penalty corner in the 9th minute and Pinky Thokchom converted into an early lead. However, the joy was short-lived as Bhopal’s Ritusha Arya scored a brilliant goal in the 11th minute to equalise the score-line by 1-1. Mumbai team fought back when Rituta Rijutai sneaked into the opponent’s half and hit the ball hard into the goal-box in 24th minute to take a lead. After the inspiring goal, Mumbai scored two back-to-back goal in 27th and 28th minute with the help of Sarita Minz and Krishna Patel respectively. Continuing the aggressive game, Mumbai earned another penalty corner in 44th minute, which was effectively converted by Rituta and took the score-card to 5-1. Mumbai scored their sixth goal in 57th minute when Navneet Kaur dribbled past the opponents and sent the ball in the nets. In the dying minutes, Bhopal showed some resistance and skipper Ranjita Sanasam scored a consolation goal in the 59th minute. Mumbai post a thumping 6-2 victory over Bhopal.

Jharkhand to face Railway in Sr Women’s final
Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 2 May 2015: The 5th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A), witnessed two powerful clashes to win the race for the Finals.
Entering into the final phase, Railway Sports Promotion Board will fight against Hockey Jharkhand to lift the title on the 3rd May 2015. Whereas, Punjab Hockey and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy will clash for the 3/4th position of the tournament on the same day.
The first fight for the finals between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Punjab was a one sided match where Railway Sports Promotion Board blanked the opponents with 8-0 and booked their berth as one of the finalists. The second clash was a neck to neck competition which ended with a victory of Hockey Jharkhand who defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy with 3-2
In the first semi-final clash for the day, it was Railway Sports Promotion Board who emerged victorious going on to claim the Finale spot tomorrow. In a one sided match Railway Sports Promotion Board, it was Soundarya Yendala who opened the account for her team as she scored through a brilliant field goal in the 7th minute. This was followed by two quick back to back goals in the 9th and 10th minute by Anuradha Devi TH giving her team a 3-0 lead and leaving the opponents frustrated. Just before the end of first half, Railway Sports Promotion Board added one more goal to the tally in the 24th minute when Amandeep Kaur deflected a beautiful pass and taking the scores to 4-0. Second half unveiled the same story as Railway Sports Promotion Board continued its dominance and registered goals at regular intervals. Minute 40th and 43rd marked two more goals coming from the stick of Manjit Kaur and Anuradha Devi TH. This was followed by two quick goals in the 50th and 51st minute, resulting in Railway Sports Promotion Board winning the semi-final clash against Hockey Punjab and advancing to the Finals tomorrow.
The second semi final clash was a neck to neck competition between Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Hockey Jharkhand which resulted in favour of Hockey Jharkhand who defeated the opponents with 3-2. The first half of the match itself saw crucial moments where both the teams were trying to get better of each other and score the first goal. However, it was Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy which opened their account first with a field goal in the 15th minute of the game coming from Ramngaihuuali R. Hockey Jhrakhand did not wait for the second half and retaliated for this shot in the 30th minute when Anima Minz struck the first goal for the team which was a field goal concluding the first half with a draw 1-1. The second half was more of a struggle by both the teams to lead. By the last minute there were no further goals leading to a draw between both the teams and called for a shoot out phase. Hockey Jharkhand kept its nerves against Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and enter the finals.

Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 03 May 2015: The tournament concluded with a win for Railway Sports Promotion Board who clinched the title of the 5th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A) by defeating Hockey Jharkahnd with a huge margin of 12-2 at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh today. Whereas, Hockey Punjab settled for the bronze medal by beating Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 2-0.
In the finals played between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Jharkhand, Railway Sports Promotion Board declared an obvious win with an extremely impressive goal margin of 12-2 and clinched the title of the 5th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A). The goals started raining in favour of Railway Sports Promotion Board as early as in the third minute of the game coming through a penalty corner conversion by Sunita Lakra which was followed by Deep Grace Ekka who struck a fourth minute goal and took the lead to 2-0. Hockey Jharkhand was in no mood to sit back and relax and it was Birsi Mundu who opened the team’s score card in the fifth minute. The match saw intense action coming from both the sides in the initial minutes as Sunita Lakra again efficiently converted a penalty corner in the seventh minute and took the lead at 3-1. Trailing by three goals, Hockey Jharkhand’s retaliated through Anima Minz who placed herself perfectly and slapped the nets in the tenth minute and scored the second goal for her team. Hockey Jharkahnd was in a dire need of scoring more such goals but stood unsuccessful. However, going by the same momentum, Railway Sports Promotion Board’s Lilima Minz and Soundaraya Yendala shared a brace and scored two goals each which further added two goals to make a tally of 7 goals. This did not stop here and Railway Sports Promotion Board added 4 more goals to its account which concluded the match in their favour who very proudly lifts the title of the 5thHockey India Senior Women National Championship 2015 (Division A).
In a hard line match, claiming the third position, Hockey Punjab sealed the match in its favour by defeating Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 2-0. The match between the two teams went on an interesting clash were both the teams were looking at striking early but it was Hockey Punjab got its breakthrough in the early second minute of the game through Hardeep Kaur’s field effort. As Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities in the first half, the scores stood at 1-0 in favour of Hockey Punjab. In the second half, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy were determined to level the scores but Hockey Punjab eventually turned the table in its favour when Reena Rani converted a penalty corner and netted a goal in the 55th minute taking the lead at 2-0.
