Indian Express: Sexual harassment charge: Punjab cops have given clean chit to Sardaar Singh

Sardaar was not available for comments despite numerous attempts but his lawyer Sumit Jain termed the allegations baseless.

THE PUNJAB Police have apparently washed their hands of the sexual harassment case registered against Indian hockey captain Sardaar Singh by a woman claiming to be his fiancee.

According to the woman, who is a UK resident and former international hockey player, the Ludhiana Police have told her to file a complaint with the Haryana Police as the alleged incidents tool place in Hisar and Panchkula.
The woman said the Ludhiana police told her they have found that no offence was made out against the player in their jurisdiction.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh Monday, the woman, along with her lawyer, Daljit Kaur, said she had visited Bhaini Sahib, which falls under Ludhiana district, with Sardaar, yet the police said no offence took place under the jurisdiction of the district.

She said she was told that the police cannot take any action on her complaint.
She said she will now approach the Haryana Police and continue the legal battle. Sardaar was not available for comments despite numerous attempts but his lawyer Sumit Jain termed the allegations baseless.
