Teenage striker Sayyad Imtiyaz Rahim and Rahul Kalakoti slammed a brilliant brace each as New Police Boys thrashed Yavatmal City 7-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the Challenge Cup hockey tournament at Police Lines Takli ground on Tuesday.

New Police Boys dominated the proceedings from the word go with Imtiyaz sounding the board as early as in the 7th minute. The prolific scorer added one more in the 25th minute as New Police Boys led 4-0 at the lemon break. Kalakoti exposed Yavatmal City’s defence time and again and scored a goal each in either half. Imtiyaz’s brother Niyaz, Virendra Baghel and Pawan Shukla were the other goal scorers for New Police Boys.

Earlier, Ritesh Harne’s double strike propelled State Reserve Police Force to a thumping 4-0 win over Chandrapur. Harne scored both his goals via penalty corner conversion. Vinod Tiwari and Ritesh Late added one goal apiece after the change of ends to seal the fate of Chandrapur’s side. Similarly, Pragmatic Club registered an identical 4-0 win over Young Police Boys to reach the quarterfinals.
