Chandigarh Women Hockey Association will hold state championship from August 4 to 6. Disclosing this on Wednesday, CWHA chairman DS Bains said the state championship will be held in sub-junior, junior and senior categories at Sector 18 Hockey Stadium. During the state competition, the subjunior team will be selected to take part in National Sub-Junior Hockey Championship to be held at Rourkela, Orissa, from August 24 to September 3.

To revive women’s hockey in Chandigarh, special incentives will be given to the top scorer and outstanding player of the tournament. It may be recalled that the Chandigarh Women Hockey Association organized a summer coaching camp for junior girls in May.

In June this year, two junior hockey players from Chandigarh, Navneet and Babita, attended junior India camp at Lucknow. Notably, Navneet Kaur has been called for the senior India camp that’s in progress at Bangalore for the Commonwealth Games.
