The above mentioned four well known faces of contemporary Indian coaching scene will be going to Beijing to witness, study and analyse hockey event.

Suresh Kalmadi, man of the moment, announced this in a press briefing.

In effect, the foursome is likely to be future faces of Indian hockey coaching. To a pointed query, Md. Aslam, Convener, clarified that the team is meant for both men and women, not for men alone.

It means one pair for men and the other for women.

However, Kalmadi and Aslam further asserted that the question of selecting coaches for the nationals teams has not been fully addressed and therefore not finalized.

“We have got a list from whatever discussion we had today. About 20 names are with us. Some others involved in hockey are likely to send names of others by mail. We will later study these names before coming to you again with the names of coaches for junior and senior teams”.

Those names include almost who’s who of formern Indian players — including Sanjeev Kumar, Ramandeep Singh, except of course Baskaran and Mumbai lot whose open loyalty to KPS Gill is well known.

Four coaches going to Beijing was the only good news the heavy media presence got in the press meet which was otherwise a drama of no consequences.

Let us hope that Kaushik will get leave from his employer (Government of Haryana) this time. Last time at the time of coaching our visiting Women’s team did not get leave and our team had to go without a coach!

    This happens only in India.

    God save India.

I also share your concern. I also have the same doubt. Some powerful fellow in his office is after him, it appears. I really feel he won’t be able to travel to Beijing. If he goes, that will be a miracle.
