Chennai's CR Kumar is an accomplished coach having trained boys and girls to fame in India as well as in Malaysia.

He served Malaysian Sports Council for four years from 2003-2007 in which spell he was given the charge of training their Women's National Team.

Kumar, a former India player, was one of the Deputies to Cedric D'Souza with the senior men's team in the early 2000s including 2002 World Cup.

Kumar trained various age group teams from 1997 to 2001. He also alternated with senior and development teams in these spells.

He was deputy to Harcharan Singh and Cedirc D'Souza.

He played for India in the Junior World Cup, before donning the national colours in the Perak tournament in 1986.
