Chandigarh: Central Air Command (CAC) beat Eastern Air Command (EAC) 3-1 in the Air Force Hockey Championship, being played at Sector 42 Sports Complex on Tuesday.

CAC opened their account in the 20th minute when Sqd Ldr Sequira sounded the board. CAC maintained the lead till the 55th minute before Sunil Kumar of EAC restored parity. But CAC came back strongly to pump in two more goals in the 64th and 66th minute, the scorers being Fg Offr Francis and Anil respectively.

In the second match of the day, Training Command beat Maintenance Command 2-0. Nambiraj hammered in the first goal in the 7th minute while Harish Kumar completed the formalities when he scored the second goal in the 61st minute.

The match between South Western Air Command (SWAC) and Air Headquarters (AHQ) was a one-sided affair, which saw SWAC trounce Air HQ 5-1. But it was AHQ who took the lead in the 3rd minute through S Singh, little knowing what was in store for them later.

The match came alive in the 37th minute when Sergeant Sami of SWAC equalised and this opened the floodgates for them. In the same minute, AK Yadav added the second goal and a minute later Domnic scored the third. Domnic was not finished yet. He got his second and his team’s fourth goal in the 43rd minute. Arun Kumar dealt the final blow scoring the fifth goal in the 57th minute.

In the final match of the day, Western Air Command (WAC) mauled Southern Air Command (SAC) 6-0. SAC’s misery started from the word go with Corporal Singh sounding the board in the 1st minute.

The other goal scorers were Satvir Singh (10th), S Singh (22nd), Kispota (26th), Major Singh (46th) and Keshwan (66th).
