Ashok Lohar dies after collapsing at the BHA

Mumbai: Multi-sport official Ashok Lohar died suddenly yesterday. In his sixties, Lohar suffered a stroke when he was at the Mahindra Hockey Stadium in the afternoon to watch the inter-academy semi-finals.

He was rushed to Bombay Hospital where died later. Lohar, who served the MSSA for over 40 years had lost the recent election for president.He had served the body as secretary and vice-president.

Lohar was president of the Amateur handball Association of Mumbai, secretary of the Mumbai Volleyball Association and secretary of the Mumbai District Football Association. He was also member of the Mumbai Hockey Association and past secretary of the Maharashtra Olympic Association.

An NIS-qualified coach in athletics, Lohar was a volleyball coach for JB Vacchha, Savla Vidyalaya and Bansidhar Agarwal schools. He was an ex-employee of Mumbai Port Trust.
