Day Four of MCC Murugappa GOld Cup Hockey Tournament

Pool A: IOC 6 (Deepak Thakur 3, Prabhjot, Didar, Raghunath) defeat Karnataka XI 3 (Mudappa, Somanna, Deepak).

Indian Railways 3 (Chandlakesu, Bharath, Innocent) defeat Mumbai XI 2 (Ajay, Yuvraj)
Pool B: Army XI 5 (Ignace 2, Jerum 2, Sunil) bt Namdhari XI 2 (Karamjeet, Dilbag Sr)

Indian Oil Corporation consolidated thier posisition in the 84th MCC-Murugappa gold cup. The Oilmen outclassed Karnataka XI 6-3 in Pool A. captain Deepak Thakur was in top form and scored three goals besides settting up another for his forwards.

In another Pool A match that could have gone either way, Indian Railways fought gallantly for a 3-2 result against Mumbai XI. Veteran Ignace Tirkey and Jerum Kumar scored a brace, while the Armymen led a comfortable 5-2 win over Namdhari XI in Pool B. Namdhari scored twice in the second half, but it was too late and too few to make up.

Monday’s schedule:
Pool B: Air India vs Orissa XI (2.15 pm).
Pool A: Karnataka XI vs IOB (4 pm) and
IOC vs Mumbai XI (5.45 pm).
