Born on 28th March 1957, the school boy Arvind Chhabra was more interested in swimming. He represented Delhi state at the age group Swimming Nationals, excelling at springboard.  He took up hockey when his services was needed for his school (Hardcourt Butler, Mandir Marg, Delhi) hockey team. Since then he did not turn back. Donning goalkeeping, he went on to represent Delhi in the hockey Nationals and grew in stature. His international career peaked when he was selected for the 1980 Champions Trophy tournament held in Karachi, Pakistan. He played for the hugely popular Indian Airlines hockey team in the Indian domestic hockey circuit. He coached women's national team for a brief spell. He is at present one of the selectors of the Delhi Hockey. He lives in Delhi
