Born on 13th April 1956 in Pune, Rekha Bhide, later Rekha Mundphan, studied at St. Joseph's Convent and BM College of Commerce in Pune. She led the Combined Universities' hockey team before making her international debut in 1973 against visiting Uganda team. She represented India at two World Cups (1974 & 1978). She joined Railways for whom she played first and then took up coaching.

She was awarded Arjuna in 1979. She lives in Pune
