Midfielder Rajinder Singh Jr. had his schooling at Govt High School in Sarih, Tehsil Nakodar in Punjab, graduated from KRM DAV College, Nakodar. Played for Punjab & Sind Bank hockey team and represented Punjab in the National Championships. His team won the Senior Nationals title in 2004.
He is called Rajinder Singh Jr., to separate his namesake who played for India around the same time. Rajinder Singh Sr., of course was a defender.
He played the 1984 Olympics, 1982 Asian Games, 1985 Asia Cup among other many tournaments.
He coached the Punjab and Sind Bank team for a decade. He was the national men's hockey team coach in 2005 and 2006. He also mentored a development women's team tour of Japan.
He was awarded Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Service to Sports in 2005
