SUPER DIVISION LEAGUE, BANGALORE: Super IOCL too good for KSP
Bangalore: IOCL continued their impressive run in the second phase of the KSHA Super Division hockey league when they trashed KSP 5-0 at the SAI South Centre here on Monday.
IOCL began on a positive note and Vikram Kanth opened the floodgates as early as the seventh minute. Three minutes later Raghunath converted a penalty corner to make it 2-0.
IOCL kept the pressure and raided the KSP citadel at regular intervals. Vikram Kanth doubled his tally in the 22nd minute and KSP found it very difficult to stop the marauding IOCL attackers.
Prabhjot Singh (55th minute) and Bharat Chimkara (66th) completed KSP’s rout.
Army Red rallied to beat Fortis in the other match of the day. Fortis took the lead in the seventh minute when Pramod Kumar sounded the board with a reverse hit. But Army Red played an attacking game and found the equaliser in the 15th minute through skipper Ignace Tirkey.
Elizer Lakra (18th) put Army men ahead in the 18th minute and Ignace buttressed the lead in the 30th minute. SV Sunil found the target in the 62nd and 68th minutes, while Diwakar Ram scored Fortis’ second goal in the 45th minute.
Rain disrupted the third match between teh formidable BPCL and Canara Bank. BPCL were leading 2-0 at half-time. The match will resume on Tuesday.
