BP derails Rail Coach Factory

TITLE CONTENDER Bharat Petroleum, Mumbai, started their campaign with a 3-1 win over Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, on the second day of the Silver Jubilee edition of Surjeet Hockey Club at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar on Sunday.
The Petroleum boys took the lead in the 10th minute when centre forward Amar Aiyamma sounded the board on a move initiated by Sabu Virkey from the right flank. After resumption, RCF managed to equalise the score in the 40th minute through right Deepak Kumar. After conceding a goal, Bharat Petroleum sprung into action and were successful in earning a penalty corner which was converted by Gurpeet Singh to make scoreboard read 2-1. Amar Aiyamma seal the match 3-1 in favour of Bharat Petroleum with a fine goal in the 63rd minute.
In the second match of the day, Air India got the better of Punjab Police 3-1. Playing aggressive hockey, Air India forged ahead in the 39th minute when their centre forward Sandeep Michel sounded the board. Jugraj Singh pulled back an equaliser for Punjab Police through a penalty corner.
Brojen Singh again put Air India ahead with a goal in the 52nd Minute. In the dying minute of the game, Joga Singh scored a fine field goal to wrap up the match 3-1 in favour of Air India.
