Kerala HA holds AGM, Another supports eludes Gill

Kerala State Hockey Association held a Special Annual General Meeting yesterday at the Scouts Centre in Thrissur.

The SPGM, specially convened to discuss national issues, authorised its President A. Nizamuddin to cast vote in the IHF election as when held.

For many it might look a routine affair, but a closer look on the proceedings reveal more.

In the last two months, Kerala presented a mixed picture. Two Kerala SHA officials attended the Seminar convened by the IHF President-aspirant JB Roy at Amby Valley, giving the impression that they are in for change. However, its Secretary Ramesh Kolappa was present in the ‘illegal’ AGM of KPS Gill in Delhi last month. So, it appeared which way the vote will go. Now that the SPGM has authorized its president, who is a staunch Roy supporter, but could not be present at Amby Valley as he was then in USA, another nail has been anchored on the dreadful dream of KPS Gill to again become the IHF god.

The dis-empowered Ramesh Kolappa is considered to be a staunch supporter of former IHF Secretary Jothikumaran. It now seems he attended the Delhi AGM without proper authority to do so.

The situation is analogous in nearby Karnataka also, where President attended the Delhi tamasha while powerful Secretary of KSHA was present at Amby Valley. It is now to be seen whether KSHA will emulate Kerala.

i agree with stoneman. every state should produce a good team first before anything else. yes, Kerala might participating in the south zone competitions, but that is not sufficient. They should come upto quartefinals fo the nationals, they should also organize tournaments in college grounds at least. if they can produce a sreejesh why not many others. kerala is known for athletics and football, if efforts are made they can develop good hockey team also. however, i appreciate this state is not supporting gill.
