New Delhi: Next month’s Nehru Cup football tournament will be held here as per schedule with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi promising to take extra precaution to protect the Ambedkar Stadium turf during the Independence Day celebration.
At a meeting on Tuesday with AIFF acting president Praful Patel, MCD commissioner K.S. Mehra promised to take extra care so that no damage comes to the playing surface which has been prepared for the six-nation tournament to be held from August 18-30.
“The tournament will be held as per schedule, there is no change on that. We have impressed upon the MCD commissioner that extra care should be taken to make sure no damage is done to the pitch,” Delhi State Association secretary N.K. Bhatia, who attended the meeting, said. — PTI
