India will meet England today at Boston
Confident India will meet England today (Saturday, the 8th Aug)in its first match of the medal round of the Junior World Cup.
After stunning first match encounter in which Australia was seized up (3-2), the Indians in Boston are progressing well, despite suspicious umpiring against the hosts, a match which India lost 2-4.
England, with wins, in its pool, is a formidable side.
India, Australia and The United States have moved into the medal round from Pool D and are placed in Pool E along with Korea, England and Chile, the top three teams from Pool A
By virtue of one win, India carries three points (belaurs win was not qualified as it did not qualify for the medal round) to this medal round, and is placed at bottom just above Chile.
India’s schedule
Vs England on Saturday
Vs Chile on Sunday
Vs South Korea on Tuesday
India will not again play Australia and USA as they had already met in Pool D and the points and goals are carried on for Pool E.
This three matches are going to be tough for India, perhaps except Chile with whom Indian played a three nation (and test series) last year.
India’s strength of course is forwardline where Shahbad girls Ritu Rani and Rani Devi are going great guns, with enough support from tight midfield. Experience of Jasjeet Kaur and others will be of immense use to control the pace. India seems to be weak on Penalty Corners, and a bit of control there can go a long way for our girls to improve their rating at Boston.
which tv channel are these matches being telecasted on? I’m unable to get information related when the matches start.
