NEW DELHI: Goalkeeper Baljit Singh, having regained substantial vision in his right eye after three surgeries, will fly out from the United States on Friday. The Sports Ministry is planning to get his cosmetic surgery done at a reputed institute like the AIIMS.
“We are extremely happy that he has regained substantial vision in his damaged eye,” said Pravir Krishn, SAI Joint Secretary and Special Officer for Commonwealth Games.
“The doctors in the U.S. have made a special contact lens for him,” he added.
Krishn said the Sports Ministry would do everything to help the goalkeeper regain full vision. “What is left is cosmetic surgery which can be done at the AIIMS,” he said.
The SAI official said Sports Minister M.S. Gill’s personal interest made things possible for Baljit. — PTI
