Friday, October 23, 2009: Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizer (RCF) and Indian Navy registered wins in the MHA Super League matches played at the Mahindra Stadium today.
RCF outsmart Mumbai Customs by stunning margin of 2-1 after being down by 1-0 during lemon break. RCF comprising mostly youngsters in their rank displayed outstanding field hockey upsetting their much fancied rivals Mumbai Customs totally. However, Customs went into lead in the 25th minutes Savio Nayak scored from the pass by Stanley Fernandes inside the semi-circle 1-0 for RCF things did not work up front the youthful striker trio of Vikram Yadav, Laxman Rao and Monish Rana kept the Customs defence on their toes, but could not find the target. However the hardworking RCF youngsters were rewarded after change of ends defender Javed Ahmed converted a direct penalty corner brilliantly for the much needed equalizer in the 45the minutes 1-1. Thereafter RCF further improvised their game plan while their rivals Customs looked totally off guard as they failed to match their youthful opponent RCF. RCF found the winning goal through their left linkman who had a outstanding match today in the dead end ie. 70th minutes Amit Gowda clinically finished a combined move by Laxman Rao and Vikram Yadav from the axis 2-1 . It is being RCF most memorable victory in recent times getting the better of much fancied opponent Mumbai Customs .
