The Role of Hockey Umpire is very important for the succesful conduct of the game of Hockey.He,not only control the match but also applies the the Rules of the game and also felicitate the fair and smooth conduct of the game.I feel there is a lot to be done in India to raise the standard of the Umpiring.I am firm believer that unless you raise the standard of Umpiring you can not raise the standard of the game.
I am really happy to note that two of Indian Umpires Satinder Sharma and Raghu Parshad have been nominated to supervise the forthcoming 12th edition of the Hero Honda FIH World cup Hockey for men to be held in Delhi during Feb 28-march 13 this year.
The need of the hour is to motivate our Umpires and provide all the guidence and facilities to our young and budding Umpires from the year 2010 so that our Umpires continue to dominate and excell in World Hockey.

Krishnamurthy, Former International Umpire: Needless for me to mention that the hockey scenario at the national level is in a fluid state at the moment and I sincerely hope the dust settles down soon in 2010. In the interest of the game of hockey in the country, it would be better an elected body of Hockey India assumes office by end of January.

Newly elected body has numerous responsibilities to set the house in order and look ahead in shaping the future of Indian Hockey which is not an east job at all. But let all of us join together to make Hockey India a responding and accountable sports body. Good luck to the Indian Hockey Team in WC / CWG / AG. Also, the need of the hour is to strengthen the domestic hockey which is languishing at the moment. Stick2Hockey is a fearless and more courageous medium for Hockey Sport and let that great work continue in future too.
