Bombay HC sets HI affiliation deadline for Maharashtra

A division bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday directed Hockey India (HI) to consider applications for affiliation of all three hockey units of the state within six weeks. The three associations seeking affiliation are Mumbai, Vidarbha and Maharashtra. The court also directed HI to decide on the applications before conducting the impending elections.

“The division bench of Justice D K Deshmukh and A R Joshi of the Bombay High Court disposed off the petition filed by the Mumbai Hockey Association and directed Hockey India to consider the application for affiliation of all three units within six weeks,” the petitioner’s advocate Rakesh Kumar said.

“It’s good news. Our efforts are bearing fruit,” the Mumbai association’s spokesperson Joaquim Carvalho said.
