‘Overage’ Orissa team disqualified

The team from Orissa has been disqualified from the All-India KD Singh Babu Sub-Junior Hockey tournament after players were found to be overage. The under-14 tournament started on January 24 and will run till February 2. On Thursday, the technical secretary of the organising committee, Syed Ali, said: “As 12 out of the 16 players from Orissa were found overage in the medical test conducted by us, we had to disqualify the entire team.”

The coach of the Orissa team Kispotta told The Indian Express: “We have accepted that our players were at fault.”
