Hockey World Cup tickets go on sale
Tickets for the men’s Hero Honda Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held at the National Stadium in the Capital from February 28, are up for sale. The first ticket was presented to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit on Wednesday.
Dixit sounded quite optimistic about the response and excitement the tournament would generate.
“I am confident that hockey lovers of the city and beyond will turn out in large numbers for the tournament. It’s a perfect opportunity for the city to give impetus to the national sport,” she said, adding she would try to follow the matches herself.
FIH president Leandro Negre, who was also present on the occasion, predicted a packed stadium for most of the matches. “We are very close to a grand hockey event and I am sure ticket sales would surpass our expectations,” he said.
The tickets are priced between Rs 100 and Rs 500 for the general category and go up to Rs 5000 for the VVIP enclosure. These would be made available through select outlets of Café Coffee Day, Union Bank of India and 24*7 convenient stores, a full list of which is available on www.msnindia.com/worldcuphockey. The site can also be accessed for online booking.
