MEG Boys wins

BANGALORE: MEG Boys’ squad claimed the title in the Hero Honda inter-school hockey tournament with a 3-1 victory over St. Joseph’s Indian High School in the final here on Wednesday. Gandhi Sharma, skipper Avinash and Milan Muthanna scored for MEG Boys while Jagath Nachappa reduced the margin for SJIHS late in the second half.

Earlier in the semifinals, SJIHS defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya, NAL 6-0 and MEG Boys beat Al-Ameen 6-4 via tie-breaker. The following players received special awards: Sesha Pramod (KV-NAL, player of the tournament); Pradeep (MEG Boys, best goalkeeper) and Ganapathy (SJIHS, top scorer). — Special Correspondent
