Japan held India 2-2 in the final Test of the four match series at the Gifu Green Stadium, Kakamigahara today.
Japan sealed the series winning the first three Tests convincingly but an inspired display by the visitors denied them a clean sweep.
The two teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
Saundarya Yendala scored a brace when she slammed home in the 7th minute giving India the lead and then converted a penalty corner in the 39th minute.
For Japan Rika Komazawa and Mie Nakashima were on target in the 9th and 62nd minutes from open play and penalty corner respectively.
The Indian defence stood out against repeated Japanese onslaughts which resulted in eleven penalty corners, as against three earned by India.
India will now play Asian champions China on their twin tour in a three Test series at Shanghai commencing next Tuesday.
The Indian women team is in preparation for the World Cup at Rosario. Argentina in July-August to be followed by the Commonwealth Games at Delhi and the Asian Games at Guangzhou later in the year
