BPCL beats Army Red

Madikeri: The prospects of Army Red making it to the top suffered a jolt as it lost an important tie to the fancied BPCL on Friday in the Super Division hockey league match here. Army Red lost 1-2.

In the other match of the day, defending champions IOCL got the better of Fortis, defeating it 5-2 with international Prabhjot Singh scoring three goals.

The results: BPCL 2 (Pundalik Bellary 51st and Karanjit Singh 68th) bt Army Red 1 (Rajesh Lakra 13th penalty corner).

IOCL 5 (Prabhjot Singh 11, 33, 59th, Ramandeep 12th and Deepak Thakur 60th) bt Fortis 2 (Yuvaraj Valmiki 43rd and Bruno Lugun 65th- penalty corner).
