The Indian women team beat New Zealand 3-1 in the fourth Test match at the National Hockey Stadium at Wellington today thus taking out the series.
India trailed 0-1 at half time but came back strongly after the break with three goals from skipper Surinder Kaur (43rd), Saba Anjum (64th) and fifteen year old Rani Rampal.(69th. minute)
The lone Black Sticks goal came in the 21st minute with Piki Hamahona striking a rebound to put away in the top right corner.
While India had many attempts in the first half these were unsuccessful. However, the second half saw them put away three field goals.
Indian Captain, Surinder Kaur, scored from a deflection in the 43rd minute while Saba Anjum scored next by flicking into the goal from close range in the 64th minute and Rani Rampal sealed the series win with a breakaway goal right on fulltime.
India won the first test in Palmerston North a week ago; the second test was a draw in Palmerston North and the third test in Napier was a draw also.
The fifth and final test will be played on Sunday at Wellington.
