Kadapa are champions

Vijayawada: Kadapa defeated East Godavari by 2-1 in the penalty shootout to lift the first Andhra Pradesh inter-district hockey championship for youth girls at Zilla Parishad High School grounds at Kovvali near Eluru on Sunday.

“Owing to heavy rain we could not complete the regulation time. The final was decided through penalty shootout,” said Hockey Andhra Pradesh general secretary M. Niranjan Reddy.

Deva Kumari and Chinni scored for Kadapa while P. Uma Rani and Vijaya Lakshmi missed the target. For East Godavari, A. Lalitha scored while G. Nagamani, Durga, A.V. Lakshmi and K. Purnima missed the target. – Principal Correspondent.
