Kollam retains the Kerala State Hockey Championship

Defending Champion Kollam defeated Allppey 2-0 in a closely fought final of the Kerala State Hockey Championship in Trivandrum recently. It’s 56th Senior State Hockey Championship, which proved another matter of joy for the Kollam team.

For the winners Mohammed Anaz and Shijin scored one goal each in the regulation time. Alleppey players Shalu and Vivek Remanan combined well and made several dangerous attacks into the opponents circle. But Kannan and Shijin defended well for the winners.

For the third place match Malapuram defeated Kannur by a margin of 4-3 via tie breaker. During the regulation time both team were tied by 1-1. A. Nizamuddin, President Kerala Hockey Association (KHA)gave away the prizes to the winners while Mercy Antony, Secretary of Kerala State Women’s Hockey Association, gave away the prizes for other two medal winners.

Jayakumar welcomed the gathering whereas Bimal Jith., Secretary of Kerala Hockey Association rendered vote of thanks.
