Don’t humiliate seniors, Dhanraj tells Nobbs

Former Indian hockey skipper Dhanraj Pillay yesterday blasted coach Michael Nobbs for asking senior players Sandeep Singh and Sardara Singh to apologise in front of the entire team at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Southern Centre campus here by Sunday.
Sandeep and Sardara had left the national camp mid-way last month. The duo had apologised for their misconduct after their two-year ban was revoked by Hockey India and resumed training on Friday.
“Nobbs must not make such demands. Don’t humiliate these players. These are our senior most players. “Nobbs must focus on his coaching and let Pargat Singh (Hockey India boss) take care of the disciplinary action,” said four-time Olympian Pillay, who was at the second India International Sports Summit (an initiative to lift the face of Indian sport) organised by TranStadia here.
