Six players – Sandeep Singh, Tushar Khandkar, Sardar Singh, Yuvraj Walmiki, Bharat Chetri, PR Sreejesh – seemed to have opted out of World Series Hockey.
They have in a plain paper signed accordingly, and informed Narinder Batra, Secretary General of Hockey India, of their interest to be in the qualifier camp in place of WSH.
Narinder Batra has forwarded the copy of the informal letter to media.
The players say in the letter that they have signed the contract with the WSH under the impression that WSH will not force them to only play in WSH and ask them to leave the national camp.
“We appeal to World Series Hockey to postpone their tournament to after the qualifiers in the national interest’, they further write in the letter.
The copy of the letter has been provided by Narinder Batra to media via email
We stress the fact that we have not spoken to any of these six players so far to confirm it further.
And are also not surprised at some players opting out
