WSH Mumbai team reveals new identity
Mumbai, 23rd January 2012:
The Mumbai franchise of World Series Hockey has been rebranded as Mumbai Marines. The brand identity has been specially designed to incorporate the core values of the team – dynamism, stability and a strong city affiliation.
Mumbai has a proud legacy of Hockey and the team boasts of some of the finest players. Adrian D’ Souza, one of the world’s best goalkeepers will captain the side and be ably supported by two former India captains, Viren Rasquinha and Prabodh Tirkey.
Exciting young Indian players like the Walmiki brothers, Yuvraj and Devender, along with International superstars like Pedro Ibarra (Argentina), Sung Min Lee (South Korea), Melchior Looijen (Netherlands), Phelie Maguire (Ireland), Connor Grimes (Canada) and Juan Martin Lopez (Argentina) makes Mumbai Marines a world class squad.
The task of forging these players into a winning unit will be handled by the master strategist Andrew Meredith, assistant coach of the German national team in their World Cup and Olympic Gold winning campaigns of 2006 and 2008 respectively.
Nutan Jha, Team Director, Prosport Holdings Pvt. Ltd., said, “The thought behind the new identity is to highlight the boundless energy and spirit of dynamism that defines this city and its sporting legacy. Besides, we wanted to consciously avoid any confusion with Pune Warriors, the Pune IPL team and hence changed the name of our team from Mumbai Warriors to Mumbai Marines.”
